The Cultural Services of the French Embassy promotes the best in French arts, literature, and education to cultural and academic institutions across the United States, with a strong focus on contemporary works. Its role is advisory, conceptual, developmental, as well as promotional and administrative.

The Maison Française is unique to the French mission in Washington. Its purpose is to provide a forum for regular contacts between Embassy staff and their American counterparts, to promote French culture and to serve as a center for the local French community. This facility is designed to accommodate a wide variety of activities, from business conferences to films, plays, receptions and dinners. Many cultural events held at the Maison Française are open to the public. First appearing in October 2009, The Drone is a website that puts emerging artists from the independant scene in the spotlight. It's goal is to use documentary-style portraits to comment what's going on today, chosing to focus on all that mainstream media tends to filter out. Each week the site is updated with interviews and live concert videos published by The Drone's French-based team (although the site operates in English) whose careers up until now have been forged in television journalism.
